Lipstick & Cake? We're Listening...

Sweet Collaboration: Amy’s Secret Kitchen’s Marbled Chocolate Cake X Collection Cosmetics

Looking to create something sweet this weekend?

To celebrate the launch of the new Collection Lasting Colour lip range, Amy’s Secret Kitchen have each created a delicious dessert recipe inspired by their favourite colour.

Summer fruits and tasty treats are at the heart of our Collection Lipstick range, with many of the lipstick colours landing names like Cupcake Pink, Pretty In Peach, Mulberry Burst and Fig Delight.

Here’s Amy’s Secret Kitchen’s recipe for marbled chocolate cake, inspired by Collection’s Lasting Colour Lipstick in Rose Wood.

2 cups sugar
1 cup coconut oil or canola oil
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda pinch of sea salt
11/2 cup milk
1 tsp of lemon
3 eggs
1/4 cup cocoa powder Rose Water Glaze

1 cup icing sugar
1 tbsp water
1 tsp rose water & dried rose petals (for decorating)

Preheat the oven to 160 degrees fan bake. Mix milk and lemon juice together and set aside. Place sugar and oil into a freestanding electric mixer using a paddle attachment. Beat until combined.

Add sifted flour, baking powder, baking soda and sea salt. Pour milk and lemon juice into the mixer scraping down the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is mixed. Add all eggs at once and mix until just combined. Fold cocoa powder in gently to create a marbled effect. Pour mixture into a non-stick cake mould.

Bake for 45–50 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the cake comes out clean. Leave cake in mould until cool. Then pop cake out onto cooling rack.

Make the rose water glaze by sifting the icing sugar into a bowl. Add water and rose water and stir until combined – set aside. Once cake is completely cool, transfer onto a serving plate and pour the glaze slowly over the top of the cake. Top with dried rose petals.

*You can also use an electric hand mixer or wooden spoon.

To celebrate the launch of Collection Cosmetics NEW Lasting Colour Lip Range (RRP $16.50 each),  Julia and Libby have created a Peach & Apple Pie recipe inspired by Pretty in Peach their favourite lipstick colour from the range!

"We love the new Collection Cosmetics ‘Pretty in Peach’ lipstick so much we’ve whipped up a delicious Peach and Apple Pie recipe in its honour. This is a brand we discovered at the supermarket and love how affordable it is (the lipsticks are $16.50) and our favourite part is its not tested on animals.

Collection Cosmetics is from the UK and is sold throughout New Zealand at Countdown Supermarkets.

This Peach and Apple Pie is sweetened using maple syrup, cinnamon and the natural sugars from the peaches and apple. It is slightly tart from the lemon zest and the crust is crunchy from the walnuts and desiccated coconut. It is perfect to have during summer and easy to make.

  • Filling:
  • 4 peaches, seeds removed
  • ½ cup chia seeds
  • 3 tablespoon maple syrup
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 green apples, core removed, cut into quarters and thinly sliced
  • Cinnamon to dust on top
  • Crust:
  • 200 grams walnuts
  • 1.5 cup desiccated coconut
  • ½ cup dates, pitted
  • 3 tablespoon extra virgin coconut oil, melted
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 organic eggs
  • Zest of 1 lemon

  1. Grease a tart tin with coconut oil.
  2. In a food processor blend the peaches with the chia seeds, maple syrup and lemon zest. Pour into a cup or bowl and set aside for 15 mins to form a gel.
  3. To make the crust, pulse all of the crust ingredients in a food processor until they resemble a crumbly mixture that is slightly sticky. Press into the tart tin base and up the sides of the tin. Cover the base of the crust with half of the green apple pieces. Spoon all of the peach mixture on top of the apple layer.
  4. Place the remaining sliced apples on top.
  5. Bake in the over for 25 to 30 minutes. Take out of the oven to cool slightly before serving.
  6. Dust with cinnamon. Best served with a dallop of greek or coconut yoghurt

Enjoy, J&L x"

Hi all, I'm Annalee- the Face of Collection Cosmetics 2014

You’re probably wondering what my Collection Story is...

“I just couldn’t believe it. These things don’t happen to me – they happen to other people. Who wins the face of a brand?”

Let your lips do the talking by using a bright pink lipstick and keeping your skin bare but flawless. Here is how to get Annalee’s look using Collection.

Apply Primed and Ready Primer followed by Bright and Glow BB Cream to create a luminous base. Pat on Lasting Perfection Concealer around under the eyes and along to the cheekbones to highlight. If you feel you need slightly more coverage, add Lasting Perfection Foundation under the cheekbones and in the hollow of the cheeks. With a fluffy brush, lightly buff in Bronze Mosaic Glow on the apple of the cheeks for a flush of colour.

Frame your face by using the Brow Kit to fill in your brows, finishing with the gel to keep them groomed and in place. Grab the Eyeshadow Pencil in Vanilla Sky as use this shade all over the eye socket, in the inner corner and along the waterline to make eyes pop. Use the Nude Eye Palette shade 1 along the brow bone, shade 2 in the crease of the eye and blend. Next line your eye with the Eyeshadow Pencil in Hot Chocolate. Swipe on a couple of coats of Does It All 5 in 1 Mascara before finishing off the eyes with Luscious Natural Lashes in Natural Length.

Apply Deluxe Lipstick in Speak Easy, blot then reapply for extra staying power.
